The Mind Matters Family Center is proud to offer the Incredible Years© Parenting series to parents of primary elementary school-aged children (5-12 years). To improve mental wellness for families in our community, we believe this well-established and tested program should be available to all parents. Dr. Katie Rex, PsyD, licensed clinical psychologist, with many years of experience leading Incredible Years groups, will serve as the group leader.

What:

The Incredible Years© is a group for parents and caregivers who want to strengthen their relationships with their children and develop effective strategies for handling challenging behaviors, such as temper tantrums or difficulty following directions.  The group offers a supportive space for parents to connect with other parents and learn about specific strategies as part of a research-based curriculum.

Each group session will have a different topic and activities for parents to try out at home.  Information will be shared through discussion and video examples from the curriculum.

Information being shared is limited exclusively to psychoeducational purposes, not for clinical treatment. Dr. Rex will not provide specific clinical advice during these group sessions but can provide support and guide parents to the clinical services they may benefit from, if requested by the participant.
